New Years 2003: January 3

We woke up to find that it was snowing. We got in to Copenhagen and bought our tickets to cross back into Sweden to Malmö. It was too early for lunch, but Sara bought sandwiches for later at the sub place she liked in Copenhagen. We had to wait a bit longer in Malmö for the next train. (We could have gotten on an earlier train if we had made reservations earlier for the trains from Copenhagen back to Linköping. But we didn't want to make those reservations before we left because we hadn't yet bought the tickets to get us from Salzburg back to Copenhagen and we didn't know for sure if we would get the trains that we originally planned on. They could have sold us those tickets in Germany, but I'm still considered a youth in Sweden so I get a discount if we buy the tickets here. So we waited until we got there.)

We finally made it home in the early afternoon. Sort of home anyway -- it doesn't quite feel like home. We're still in a different country with a different language and culture, and away from our family and friends. (Well, we have new friends here, but we've only known them for a few months so it's not quite the same.) But it's definitely more like home to us than Germany. We enjoyed the trip, but we are glad to be back.
